Currently, Coach Avent is the Head Coach of the Eastside Tigers (formerly known as Woodrow Wilson) Varsity Boys Basketball Team in Camden, New Jersey. Coach Avent took control of the team in November, 2021 and led the team to their first State Championship since 1985, and their first Sectional Title since 2004.
Coach Avent was chosen NJ.com boys basketball State Coach of the year, along with the Courier Post’s boys basketball Coach of the year.
In 2014, Coach Avent took over as Head Coach of Delcastle Technical High School boys basketball team. He led the team to their first playoff berth in over 5 years, and in his second season the program took a major step forward by advancing to the state semi finals of the 2015 Delaware Boys Basketball State Tournament.

Coach Avent received 2-time All-Met and All-State honors as well. As a Senior, Coach Avent was named Prince George's County and Prince George's Journal Player Of The Year. Twenty years later, Coach Avent still holds the distinction of all-time leader in scoring and rebounding at High Point.
Coach Avent was heavily recruited by Division-1 colleges such as University of Maryland, Georgetown, and Duke Universities, Kevin Eastman (current L.A. Clippers Assistant, and former director of the Nike Skills Academy) eventually convinced Coach Avent to join him at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Coach Avent played Point Guard, Shooting Guard, and Small Forward at UNCW. After leaving UNCW, Coach Avent joined the National Rookie League (NRL) and won the championship in 2000 with the Washington Justice. Next Coach Avent played professionally on the International level in Argentina, Canada, and France.
Coach Avent simultaneously coached the NJ Thunder of the American Professional Basketball League (APBL) to back to back championships in 2015 and 2016. He also was named American Professional Basketball League Coach of the year.
Coach Avent became the Head Coach of Woodbury High School boys basketball team, and led his team to Colonial Conferences Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and Group 1 South Jersey Championships in 2009 and 2010. Coach Avent was named the Gloucester County Times Coach of the Year in 2009.

Coach Kenny Avent is the Founder and President of Avent BasketballAcademy and holds a degree in Sports Management. Coach Avent is also a FIBA (Federation of International Basketball Association) Certified Licensed Coach and a memeber of the WABC (World Association of Basketball Coaches) where all activities are endorsed by and organized through FIBA.
Coach Avent has had a love and passion for the game of basketball since he was 10 years old, and grew up playing basketball in one of the toughest basketball cities in the country, Washington, DC. As a young player, Coach Avent played on countless premiere AAU basketball teams, and got a chance to travel across the region and country to develop his game and win championships. Coach Avent attended High Point High School in Maryland. He was a 4-year Varsity player and further developed under the guidance of the legendary coach, Ernie Welch. While at High Point, Coach Avent helped lead his team to 4 League Championships, 3 Regional Championships, and a State Championship.
